Role Description
The role will cover several areas within our business. These areas include:
- Production of our existing commercial products. Glantreo currently operate an ISO-9001 manufacturing environment with GMP environment in planning.
- Development of the new products or creating value added products from our existing product ranges. The mix of product development and production necessary in a small company optimises your exposure to multiple areas in the business.
- Analytical testing. This could include HPLC, uHPLC, SEM, EDX, BET, UV-Vis as well as other analytical methods we employ. Experience of these is desired but not necessary.
Education Qualifications
- BSc/MSc in chemistry, biology, analytical or material science field.

- Skills necessary to work as part of a team within a small business
- ‘Can-Do’ attitude.
- Ability to communicate technical matters to non-technical people
- The role is technical but all people in Glantreo understand that there is a commercial goal behind the technical products and their development.

Glantreo is a dynamic company that specialises in the development and manufacture of innovative nano-featured materials. The applications for our materials include chromatography, diagnostic, drug delivery, energy, as well as biological applications. In partnership with the Solid State Pharmaceutical Cluster (SSPC) we are offering a funded Research Masters position in University College Cork.
Project Title: Novel materials, chemistries and products for separations including sample preparation, HPLC and SEC.
The team, as a whole, would be focused on:
- Creating new variations of Glantreo’s existing materials platforms (SOLAS, EIROSHELL & SOLAD) for specific applications and products. For example, this be a larger pore size for bio-separations or particle size.
- Adding new chemistries to existing materials or adding existing chemistries to new materials.
- Packing these new materials into end-product formats. This could be HPLC columns or sample prep cartridges.
- Testing the end products. This will involve usage of equipment such as HPLC UV-vis, Mass Spec and SEC/GPC equipment.
This is not a ‘stand alone’ piece of work but critically working as part of the team and could have a role to play in all of the above. Apart from the exposure to significant technical knowledge, the Masters student would gain experience of bringing a product from R&D to Product Launch in an ISO certified environment.
