Bismuth oxychloride (BiOCl) is emerging as a promising anode material for next-generation batteries due to its exceptional electrochemical properties, abundance, and low toxicity. Glantreo specialises in the production of high-quality Bismuth Oxychloride nanostructures, characterised by nanoplates that stack in a hierarchical arrangement to form unique flower-like structures. These advanced nanostructures offer significant advantages as an alternative to hard carbon in energy storage applications, particularly in the development of more environmentally friendly batteries. With ongoing research focused on alternatives to traditional Li-ion batteries, BiOCl has shown potential as an anode material for sodium (Na), potassium (K), and magnesium (Mg) ion batteries. Recent research in collaboration with the University of Limerick has demonstrated that BiOCl can be effectively used as an anode coating, significantly enhancing the cycling stability and lifetime of sodium-ion batteries (SIB). This makes Bismuth Oxychloride a great choice for sustainable energy storage solutions to meet the growing demand for cleaner, safer, and more efficient battery technologies.
